There are many surface treatments frequently used in the rapid prototype. The following is to explain the post-treatment of sandblasting.

Sand blasting is to put the work-piece into a closed sand blasting machine, using compressed air as the power, the formation of a high-speed jet jet sand material to be treated by the surface of the work-piece, so that the surface or shape of the work-piece surface change.

Common sand has copper ore, quartz sand, emery sand, iron sand, steel ball, glass sand and so on.

  1. The effect of sand blasting
1)   Change the metal surface finish and stress state, improve the surface roughness.
2)   Remove metal surface rust, burr, oxide layer.
3)  Creates a fogging effect on the metal surface.
4)   The mechanical properties of the metal surface are improved, the fatigue resistance of the metal is improved, the adhesion between the coating is increased, and the durability of the coating is prolonged, which is beneficial to the flow and decoration of the coating.
2.Sand blasting main application site
1)   Sand blasting is mainly applied to the surface treatment of hardware products, such as stainless steel, aluminum alloy, zinc alloy, cast iron, etc.
2)   Plastic products and glass, wood products have applications.
3)   The work piece spraying and electroplating, the work piece bonding before treatment. Sand blasting can remove all dirt on the surface of the work-piece rust, and set up a very important basic pattern on the surface of the work-piece (that is, the surface of the wool), and through the exchange of different particle size of abrasive, to achieve different degrees of roughness, greatly improve the work-piece and coating, plating binding force.Or make the bond pieces bond more firmly, better quality.

4)   Cleaning and polishing of casting rough surface and workpiece after heat treatment. 5)   Burr cleaning and surface beautification of machined parts. Sandblasting can make a small corner at the junction of the workpiece surface, so that the workpiece appears more beautiful, more precise.

6)   Improve mechanical properties of parts. After blasting mechanical parts, the surface of the parts can produce even fine concave and convex surface, so that the lubricating oil is stored, so as to improve lubrication conditions, and reduce noise, improve the service life of machinery.
7)   Decorative effect. For some special purpose workpiece, sandblasting can achieve different reflective or matte light. Such as stainless steel workpiece, wood furniture surface matte, ground glass surface patterns, and cloth surface of the wool processing.
